Sikkim government has launched an outreach campaign to promote food processing entrepreneurship under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme. The campaign targets rural and semi‑urban areas where local produce can be value‑added.
Through the outreach, officials are organising awareness camps and training sessions to inform prospective entrepreneurs about the scheme’s benefits, eligibility criteria and application process.
The initiative also includes facilitation of credit linkage and technical assistance to help beneficiaries set up small‑scale food processing units.
The initiative aligns with the state’s broader goal of enhancing rural livelihoods and boosting the agro‑processing sector.
