A flood relief team from Sikkim is scheduled to leave for Nepal on August 30 to assist communities affected by recent floods.
The Sikkim state government has announced that a dedicated flood relief team will depart for Nepal on August 30. The deployment follows severe flooding in parts of Nepal that has displaced thousands and damaged infrastructure. Officials say the team will carry essential supplies, medical kits and rescue equipment to support local authorities.
The relief contingent, comprising volunteers, medical staff and logistical personnel, is being assembled at the state capital, Gangtok, before moving to the border. Coordination with Nepalese disaster management agencies has been ongoing to ensure the aid reaches the most affected districts promptly.
State Chief Minister P.S. Tamang emphasized the long-standing friendship between the two Himalayan neighbours and affirmed Sikkim's commitment to humanitarian assistance. The team is expected to return after a week of on‑ground operations, contingent on the evolving situation in Nepal.
