The Sikkim Dance Academy has been chosen to showcase Indian folk dance at the upcoming Vietnam Folklore Festival, marking a cultural exchange between the two nations.
The Sikkim Dance Academy announced today that it will represent India at the Vietnam Folklore Festival, a platform that brings together traditional performing arts from across the globe. The selection highlights the academy's reputation for preserving and promoting the rich dance heritage of the Himalayan state.
The academy, which trains dancers in a variety of Sikkimese folk forms, will join other international troupes to perform in Vietnam. Organisers of the festival have invited the group to present a program that reflects India's diverse cultural tapestry, offering Vietnamese audiences a glimpse of the rhythms and costumes of the eastern Himalayas.
Cultural officials view the participation as an opportunity to strengthen people‑to‑people ties between India and Vietnam. By featuring Sikkim's distinctive dance styles on an international stage, the academy aims to foster greater appreciation for India's regional arts while contributing to the broader objectives of cultural diplomacy.
