Shopkeeper Pursues and Catches Jewellery Thief in Jhotwara, Jaipur

A woman who stole a box of gold rings worth around ₹20 lakh fled from a jewellery store in Jhotwara, Jaipur, but was pursued for about 500 metres and apprehended by the shopkeeper, who said the thief wanted to go to jail.
A customer entered a jewellery shop in Jhotwara, a suburb of Jaipur, and walked out with a sealed box containing gold rings valued at roughly ₹20 lakh. The shopkeeper, noticing the theft, gave chase.
The pursuit covered about half a kilometre before the shopkeeper managed to corner the woman and seize the stolen box.
When detained, the suspect reportedly told the shopkeeper that she preferred to go to jail rather than face further consequences. Police were alerted and took the matter into their hands.
The incident highlights the vigilance of small‑business owners in protecting their merchandise against high‑value thefts.
