Shiv Sena inducts new members and launches special team to curb drug abuse

The Shiv Sena disclosed that a number of individuals have recently been inducted as party members, expanding its grassroots base. In the same announcement, the party said it has constituted a special monitoring team tasked with addressing drug abuse across its areas of influence.

The newly formed team will coordinate with local law‑enforcement agencies, health officials and community groups to identify hotspots, conduct awareness drives and support rehabilitation efforts. It is expected to operate under the party’s existing social welfare wing, leveraging volunteer networks for rapid response.

A party spokesperson emphasized that combating drug addiction is a priority for the Sena, noting that the initiative reflects the organization’s broader commitment to public safety and youth welfare. The monitoring unit will begin its activities within the next fortnight, focusing initially on districts where drug-related incidents have risen sharply.
