The Shan-e-Bhopal Express was cancelled on October 9 and 10 in both directions due to operational issues and lack of a rake, forcing Delhi‑Bhopal travellers to seek alternative transport.
The Shan-e-Bhopal Express, which runs daily between Delhi and Bhopal, was not operational on 9 October and again on 10 October. On the first day, railway officials cited general operational reasons for the cancellation, while on the second day the train could not be run because a rake was unavailable.
The abrupt suspension left hundreds of passengers stranded at stations in both capitals. With no immediate replacement service, commuters were compelled to book private taxis, buses or other Indian Railways trains on short notice, often at higher fares.
Indian Railways has not issued a detailed timeline for the resumption of the service, but it confirmed that the train will run as per the regular schedule once the rake issue is resolved. Travelers are advised to check official railway portals for updates before planning their journey.
The incident highlights the vulnerability of long‑distance rail services to logistical setbacks, especially during peak travel periods. Authorities are expected to review contingency measures to minimise passenger inconvenience in future disruptions.
