The Supreme Court's ruling on the Hazoor Sahib Board dispute was praised by the SGPC chief, who said the decision upholds the board's authority.

The Supreme Court delivered its verdict on the long‑standing Hazoor Sahib Board dispute, affirming the board's jurisdiction over the management of the historic Sikh shrine. In a brief statement, the president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) expressed satisfaction with the judgment, describing it as a reinforcement of the board's legal standing.

The ruling, handed down by a bench of senior judges, resolves a series of petitions that questioned the board's authority to oversee the shrine's affairs. The court concluded that the SGPC retains full control as mandated by existing religious‑administrative statutes.

Following the announcement, SGPC chief Harpreet Singh Giani thanked the judiciary for upholding the sanctity of Sikh institutions and pledged to implement the court's directives without delay. The decision is expected to bring stability to the administration of Hazoor Sahib and curb ongoing legal challenges.

Stakeholders, including local devotees and community leaders, have welcomed the clarity provided by the judgment, viewing it as a step toward smoother governance of the Amritsar shrine.

The SGPC reiterated its commitment to preserving the heritage of Hazoor Sahib while adhering to the legal framework affirmed by the Supreme Court.
