The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee said it will extend assistance to those affected by the recent disaster in Nepal.
Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has declared its intention to provide relief to victims of the recent disaster that struck Nepal. In a statement released today, the SGPC said it will mobilise funds and material assistance from its charitable resources to support affected families.
The committee highlighted its long-standing tradition of humanitarian outreach beyond India’s borders, noting that the Sikh community has historically responded to crises in neighboring countries. SGPC officials indicated that coordination will be undertaken with Nepalese authorities and local NGOs to ensure aid reaches the most vulnerable.
No specific monetary figures or quantities of supplies have been disclosed yet, but the SGPC affirmed that its efforts will be guided by the principle of "seva" (selfless service). The organization plans to dispatch a delegation to Nepal within the coming days to assess needs on the ground.
The announcement comes as Nepal grapples with the aftermath of the disaster, which has left many families displaced and in urgent need of basic necessities.
