Severe Floodwaters Sweep Person Away in Odisha, Rescue Teams Launch Search

Heavy rains have caused river levels to rise dramatically across parts of Odisha, turning roads and low‑lying areas into fast‑moving floodwaters. Local residents reported that the water surged unexpectedly, inundating homes and agricultural fields.

During the surge, a person was carried away by the torrent and could not be located. State disaster‑management officials, together with police and the National Disaster Response Force, have mobilised teams to scour the affected zones, using boats and rescue equipment to locate the missing individual.
