Seven pupils from Kodar Chayan school in Umaria fell ill with vomiting, dizziness and fainting after taking albendazole and were admitted to the district hospital.
Several children at Kodar Chayan school in Umaria district reported severe discomfort after ingesting albendazole tablets. The affected pupils experienced vomiting, dizziness, weakness and, in some cases, brief loss of consciousness.
School staff promptly contacted local health authorities, and the children were transported to Umaria District Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. All seven students were admitted for observation and supportive care.
Health officials have begun an inquiry to determine whether the medication was administered correctly or if there was a possible contamination issue. The investigation aims to prevent similar incidents in the future and to ensure safe drug distribution in schools.
Parents of the affected children have been notified, and the school has temporarily suspended the administration of any further medication until the inquiry concludes.
