Police in Yadgir district arrested seven suspects after seizing burnt peacock remains, live turtles, crabs and illegal firearms linked to wildlife poaching.

Local police in Yadgir, Karnataka, detained seven individuals suspected of engaging in illegal wildlife poaching. The arrests were made following a raid that uncovered evidence of recent hunting activities.

During the operation, authorities recovered the charred remains of two peacocks, indicating that the birds had been illegally killed and burned. In addition, two live turtles and twelve live crabs were seized, all of which are protected under Indian wildlife regulations.

The seizure also included six country-made firearms along with ammunition, suggesting the suspects were equipped for repeated poaching offenses. Police, in coordination with forest officials, have taken the weapons and animal specimens into custody for further investigation.

The incident underscores ongoing challenges in enforcing the Wildlife Protection Act, as authorities continue to crack down on illicit hunting networks in the region.
