Senior doctors at Indore's MTH Hospital served show-cause notices over junior doctor ragging allegations

After a junior doctor alleged ragging and mental harassment at Indore's MTH Hospital, the college administration opened an inquiry, issued show‑cause notices to the HOD and several senior physicians and capped duty shifts at 12 hours.
Indore's Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MTH) Hospital has come under scrutiny after a junior doctor reported being subjected to ragging and mental harassment by senior colleagues. The allegations were formally lodged with the hospital's governing body, prompting immediate attention from the institution's administration.
In response, the college administration announced the formation of an internal inquiry team. Show‑cause notices have been served to the Head of Department (HOD) and a number of senior doctors, requiring them to explain their involvement or failure to prevent the alleged misconduct. Additionally, the administration has imposed a maximum duty roster of 12 hours per shift for all medical staff to mitigate further stress.
Ragging within medical training institutions is prohibited under both state and central regulations, and violations can attract disciplinary action, including suspension or termination.
