In just a few days, the Seelampur incense market in Delhi reported a two‑fold increase in sales as festival demand surged.
The bustling incense market in Seelampur, Delhi, has witnessed a sharp rise in sales over the past few days, with traders reporting a doubling of business as festival season approaches.
Market stalls that usually operate at steady pace have now seen a surge in footfall, as shoppers rush to buy incense sticks for upcoming celebrations. Vendors have noted that the demand has outstripped supply, prompting many to extend operating hours.
Experts attribute the spike to the proximity of major festivals, which traditionally drive higher consumption of incense in the region. The local traders are optimistic that the trend will continue, potentially boosting the market’s annual turnover.
While precise figures remain undisclosed, the rapid uptick in sales underscores the market’s resilience and its critical role in supporting the livelihoods of thousands of artisans and small‑scale entrepreneurs in Seelampur.
