School Bus Trapped in Flooded Dewas Underbridge, 7-8 Children Rescued from Roof

After heavy rain, a school bus got stuck in the flooded civil line underbridge in Dewas on Tuesday morning; rescuers lifted the vehicle and helped seven to eight children climb onto the roof before bringing them to safety.
Heavy monsoon showers overnight caused water to accumulate on the civil line underbridge in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh. Early Tuesday morning a school transport vehicle, commonly referred to as a "school magic" bus, entered the underbridge and became immobilised by the rising water.
The bus was carrying roughly seven to eight school‑going children when it stalled midway. Local residents and emergency responders arrived promptly, using ropes and makeshift ladders to pull the vehicle to a stable position.
To prevent the children from being swept away, rescuers instructed them to sit on the bus roof while the water level was assessed. Once the immediate danger subsided, the children were safely guided down and taken to a nearby school for a brief check‑up.
Authorities have warned commuters about the risk of flash flooding in low‑lying underpasses and urged drivers to avoid such routes during heavy rain.
No injuries were reported, and the incident is under investigation to improve drainage and emergency response at the underbridge.
