State Bank of India’s chairman announced that the bank expects its total business to reach ₹200 trillion by 2030, roughly twice its current level.

State Bank of India, the country’s largest commercial lender, disclosed that its total business could climb to ₹200 trillion by the end of the decade, according to the bank’s chairman.
The figure represents roughly a two‑fold increase from the bank’s present total business, which hovers around ₹100 trillion. Management expects the growth to be driven by a larger loan book, higher deposit mobilisation and expanded digital services.
The outlook arrives as Indian banks seek to tap rising credit demand and support the post‑pandemic economic recovery. SBI also anticipates greater fee‑based income and cross‑selling opportunities across its extensive network.
Industry analysts caution that sustaining such scale will require tight asset‑quality controls and navigation of regulatory limits, but the bank’s strong capital position and nationwide branch footprint are seen as supportive factors.
