Students residing in the Satya Niketan paying‑guest accommodation in Delhi say the rent is Rs 20,000 per bed and that food and electricity are billed separately.
Delhi's Satya Niketan neighbourhood has seen a surge in paying‑guest (PG) rates, with several students reporting that a single‑bed room now costs Rs 20,000 per month. The fee structure, according to the residents, excludes utilities and meals, which are charged as separate line items.
The students, many of whom are pursuing higher education in the capital, said the steep rent places a heavy financial strain, especially when combined with additional expenses for electricity and food. They noted that comparable PGs in other parts of Delhi typically charge lower base rents, making Satya Niketan one of the costlier options.
Attempts to obtain a comment from the PG owners or local housing authorities have so far been unsuccessful, leaving the students to voice their concerns publicly through social media and local forums.
