Madhya Pradesh police in Satna have detained five suspects accused of pressuring individuals to change religion by offering cash and employment, and have sent them to jail pending further investigation.

The Satna district police announced that five individuals have been taken into custody on charges of orchestrating forced religious conversions. According to the complaint, the accused allegedly lured vulnerable persons with promises of money and job opportunities to induce them to abandon their faith.

Investigators say the scheme targeted residents of the Dhawari area, where community tensions over conversion activities have recently escalated. The suspects were apprehended after a series of complaints were filed by local families who reported the coercive tactics.

All five accused have been remanded to judicial custody and placed in the district jail while the police continue to gather evidence. The case is being examined under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act.

Authorities have urged the public to report any similar incidents and assured that any attempts to manipulate religious choice for material gain will be pursued rigorously.

The investigation remains ongoing, and further details will be released as the legal process unfolds.
