Continuous heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand has pushed the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers in Rudraprayag close to the warning threshold, prompting a rain alert.

The Uttarakhand disaster management authority has issued a rain alert for Rudraprayag district as persistent monsoon showers continue across the region.

Monitoring data indicates that water levels in the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers have risen to just below the designated warning level, heightening the risk of flash floods in low‑lying habitations.

Officials have advised residents in vulnerable villages to stay vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel near riverbanks, and cooperate with any evacuation directives that may be issued.

Additional personnel and rescue equipment are being deployed to the area, and authorities will provide further updates should the situation worsen.

The alert follows a broader pattern of above‑normal rainfall in Uttarakhand, which has already triggered landslides and disrupted road connectivity in several districts.
