RTO's special check on Oonkarshwar route nets Rs 1.11 lakh fine, two autos seized

A special vehicle inspection by the RTO on the Oonkarshwar‑Khandwa‑Indore corridor resulted in fines totalling Rs 1.11 lakh and the seizure of two auto‑rickshaws.
The Regional Transport Office (RTO) of Madhya Pradesh launched a focused inspection drive along the Oonkarshwar and Khandwa‑Indore corridor. During the operation, officials examined roughly 75 passenger‑carrying vehicles for compliance with safety and fare regulations.
Out of the vehicles inspected, 16 were found to be in violation of statutory norms. The RTO levied a cumulative fine of Rs 1.11 lakh against the offending operators and confiscated two auto‑rickshaws that failed to meet the required standards.
In addition to the fines, the enforcement team displayed the prescribed fare schedule on the windshields of about 80 auto‑rickshaws operating on the route, aiming to improve transparency for commuters.
The RTO officials said the campaign is part of a broader effort to curb irregularities in passenger transport and to ensure that fare structures are uniformly applied across the region.
Authorities have urged drivers to adhere to the regulations and have warned that future inspections will continue on a regular basis.
