Portugal’s all‑time leading scorer Cristiano Ronaldo announced his retirement from international football, finishing with a record 146 goals.
Veteran forward Cristiano Ronaldo confirmed that he will no longer represent Portugal, ending a 20‑year international career that saw him become the sport’s most prolific scorer. The announcement came after he reached 146 goals for his country, a tally that tops the record books for any player in international football.
Ronaldo’s 146 strikes surpass the previous benchmark set by Iran’s Ali Daei, cementing his place as the all‑time leading goal‑getter on the global stage. His consistency across multiple European Championships and World Cups has redefined scoring standards for forwards worldwide.
The Portuguese Football Federation praised his contributions, noting that his departure will leave a significant void ahead of upcoming qualifiers. While the team will look to rebuild, Ronaldo’s legacy as a record‑breaking icon is already secure.
