Mumbai Indians have announced former Indian international Robin Uthappa as their new batting coach. The appointment was confirmed by the franchise ahead of the forthcoming IPL campaign.
Speaking at a press briefing, Uthappa said, "We come in again as underdogs," underscoring the mindset he intends to instill in the squad. The comment reflects a realistic assessment of the team's position as it prepares for the tournament.
Uthappa, who retired from international cricket in 2022 after a prolific domestic career, will now focus on sharpening the batting unit's technique and strategy. His experience as a top‑order batsman is expected to benefit the side's younger players.
The Mumbai franchise, a regular contender in the league, will rely on the new coaching staff to navigate the challenges of a highly competitive season.
