The Rivar Group has signed a memorandum of understanding worth ₹3,000 crore with the Goa government to create an International Sports and Performance City in the state.
Goa's tourism and sports ministry announced that the Rivar Group, a private conglomerate, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) valued at ₹3,000 crore to develop an International Sports & Performance City. The project aims to provide world‑class facilities for training, competitions, and sports science research, positioning Goa as a hub for athletes from across India and abroad.
The MoU outlines a public‑private partnership model, with the state providing land and regulatory support while Rivar Group will invest the capital and manage construction. Officials said the development will span several acres along the coastal belt, integrating stadiums, indoor arenas, residential zones for athletes, and ancillary commercial spaces.
If executed as planned, the sports city could generate significant employment, boost tourism, and attract international events. The Goa government has earmarked the initiative as a priority under its broader strategy to diversify the state's economy beyond traditional beach tourism.
The agreement is subject to further approvals and detailed project reports, with both parties committing to adhere to environmental and sustainability guidelines throughout the construction phase.
