Gujarat’s integrated fibre‑to‑fabric sector is feeling the pinch as input costs climb sharply. Producers of yarn, fabric and finished garments report that the surge in raw material prices is eroding their earnings.
The cost drivers include a steep rise in cotton prices on the global market, higher tariffs on imported synthetic fibres and a noticeable increase in electricity and diesel rates that power mills and transport goods.
Manufacturers say the tighter margins are forcing them to reconsider pricing strategies and, in some cases, delay expansion plans. While some firms are seeking cheaper alternative inputs, many warn that the higher expenses could be passed on to buyers, potentially slowing demand for Gujarat‑made textiles.
