Rising Input Costs Force Ludhiana Bicycle Makers to Raise Prices

Ludhiana’s bicycle industry is confronting a sharp rise in the cost of raw materials such as steel, aluminum and rubber, as well as higher expenses for components and logistics. The sustained price hikes have squeezed profit margins for local manufacturers, many of whom operate on thin spreads.

An unnamed entrepreneur from the city told Amar Ujala that the continued increase in input costs is leaving manufacturers with little choice but to pass a portion of the burden onto consumers. He warned that retail prices of standard bicycles could rise by several percent in the coming months.
