Rising Ganga Floods Submerge Eight Villages in Danapur, Saran, Prompting Evacuations

The Ganga’s swelling waters have inundated all eight villages of Akilpur Panchayat in Danapur, Patna and Saran, halting road traffic and forcing residents to flee as even the police station is under water.
The Ganga river has risen sharply in recent days, breaching its banks in the Danapur area of Patna district and in Akilpur Panchayat of Saran district. The surge has turned the low‑lying terrain into a waterlogged zone, with floodwaters covering the entire stretch of eight villages in the panchayat.
All eight villages are now completely submerged, cutting off road connections and leaving residents with no means of travel. Families have been forced to abandon their homes and move to higher ground or temporary shelters set up by local authorities.
The situation has also affected government infrastructure; water entered the police station compound, and dozens of seized vehicles stored there are reported to be submerged. District officials have deployed rescue teams and boats to evacuate stranded people and are monitoring the river’s level continuously.
Authorities have warned that the water level could rise further and have urged villagers to stay alert and cooperate with rescue operations.
