Revanth Reddy seeks four‑week extension to file Telangana voter‑roll objections

Congress MP and Telangana senior leader Revanth Reddy wrote to the Election Commission of India asking for a four‑week extension to lodge formal objections against entries in the state’s voter rolls. He argued that the current deadline does not allow sufficient time for a thorough verification of discrepancies reported by party workers and local supporters.

The request comes ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections, where the accuracy of the electoral roll is expected to be a critical factor. Reddy’s filing cites numerous cases of duplicate entries, deceased voters and residents who have migrated out of the state, which he says could affect the fairness of the poll.

The Election Commission has not yet responded publicly to the plea. If granted, the extension would push the final deadline for objections into early December, giving parties additional time to submit evidence and seek corrections before the final roll is published.
