Police in Sehore have opened an investigation after a retired army subedar allegedly demanded ₹25 lakh and used a fake identity to sell the same industrial‑zone plot to multiple investors, cheating them of up to ₹1.5‑2 crore.

Sehore district police have registered a case of land fraud after a retired army subedar is accused of extracting ₹25 lakh from a prospective buyer by posing as a legitimate seller. The accused allegedly created a fictitious father‑figure to convince investors that a parcel of land earmarked for industrial development was available at a fraction of market price.

According to the complaint, the same plot was sold repeatedly to different investors, each transaction promising cheap ownership of the industrial‑zone land. The cumulative loss reported by the victims ranges between ₹1.5 crore and ₹2 crore.

Investigators have seized documents and are tracing the false identity used in the transactions. The police suspect violations of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code sections dealing with cheating and criminal breach of trust.

Land‑related scams have been on the rise in Madhya Pradesh, prompting state authorities to warn the public against unverified offers and to verify the credentials of sellers before any payment.
