After the Jantar‑Mantar controversy in Delhi, villagers and family members in Ojaul, Darbhanga, gathered to demand an impartial investigation into the support given to activist Swatantra Bharadwaj.
The controversy that erupted at Delhi's Jantar‑Mantar over the presence of activist Swatantra Bharadwaj has reverberated to his ancestral village of Ojaul in Darbhanga district, Bihar. Bharadwaj, known for his outspoken criticism of government policies, became the focus of a heated debate after police action in the capital.
In Ojaul, a group of villagers, joined by several members of Bharadwaj's family, assembled near the village panchayat office on Saturday. They raised slogans demanding a transparent and unbiased inquiry into the circumstances that led to the Delhi incident and the alleged support extended to Bharadwaj by local networks.
Spokesperson of the protest, a senior villager, said the community seeks clarity on whether any undue political influence was exercised and urged the state administration to intervene promptly. Local police officials reported that the gathering remained peaceful, with no arrests or clashes. Authorities have been asked to send a senior officer to Ojaul to assess the situation and ensure that any investigation, if ordered, adheres to procedural fairness.
