Reliance Industries has announced a plan to spend about ₹1 lakh crore in Andhra Pradesh to set up compressed biogas (CBG) production facilities.
Reliance Industries disclosed that it will allocate roughly ₹1 lakh crore to develop compressed biogas (CBG) plants in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The investment is aimed at establishing a network of facilities that will produce renewable natural gas from agricultural waste and other feedstocks.
The move aligns with India’s broader push for cleaner energy sources and the government’s target to increase the share of bio‑fuels in the national energy mix. Analysts expect the CBG plants to add several million tonnes of renewable gas annually, helping to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels.
State officials anticipate that the project will generate significant employment opportunities, both during construction and in long‑term operations, and will boost ancillary industries such as logistics and equipment manufacturing. Reliance has not disclosed a detailed rollout schedule, but sources suggest the first plant could become operational within the next two years.
The announcement was reported by ET Manufacturing, which highlighted the scale of the investment as one of the largest private sector commitments to renewable energy infrastructure in the region.
