A group of dissenting AAP legislators from Punjab reached the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Delhi headquarters, indicating a possible shift of allegiance before the upcoming polls.
A handful of Punjab legislators who have broken away from the Aam Aadmi Party travelled to New Delhi and entered the headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Their arrival was reported in the capital as a coordinated move ahead of the state and national elections that are scheduled later this year. The MLAs are said to have met senior BJP officials inside the party’s Delhi office, signalling an intention to join the ruling party. This development comes at a time when both the AAP and BJP are intensifying their campaign efforts across northern India. While the AAP leadership has not issued an official response, the BJP has described the visit as a sign of growing support for its policies in Punjab. Analysts note that any defection could alter the balance of power in the Punjab Legislative Assembly and influence voter sentiment ahead of the polls.
