Police on Tuesday recovered the body of Nigar Kumari, a manager of a real‑estate firm based in Begusarai, from a private hotel in Muzaffarpur. The deceased was found hanging from a makeshift trap, and investigators described the circumstances as suspicious.
Kumari, 34, had been staying at the hotel for a short period when the incident occurred. Colleagues said she was a senior manager handling property transactions across the region and had recently been involved in a high‑value deal.
According to local reports, the day before her death her husband’s family publicly accused her of financial impropriety and demanded restitution. The allegations were reportedly severe enough to trigger a heated confrontation.
Muzaffarpur police have opened a criminal case, sealed the hotel premises for forensic examination and are questioning both hotel staff and family members to determine whether the death was a suicide, homicide or an accident.
