In Jaipur, MP Ravindra Singh Bhatti urged the central government to recognise state‑issued EWS certificates for jobs and education, and to review related land‑ownership criteria.
MP Ravindra Singh Bhatti addressed a gathering in Jaipur, demanding that the central government extend recognition to EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) certificates issued by individual states. He argued that such recognition would streamline access to reserved seats in central government jobs and educational institutions.
Bhatti highlighted three specific reforms: first, the acceptance of state‑issued EWS certificates across all central services; second, an extension of the certificates' validity period to reduce administrative hurdles; and third, a review of the land‑ownership criteria that currently determine eligibility for the reservation.
The call comes as the EWS reservation, introduced in 2019, continues to face implementation challenges, with many beneficiaries encountering discrepancies between state and central verification processes. Stakeholders have long sought uniform guidelines to ensure the reservation's intended beneficiaries receive timely benefits.
While the demand was voiced in Jaipur, Bhatti indicated that similar concerns are being raised in other states, urging the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to convene a working group to address the inconsistencies.
