Judo players from Rajkot have begun the District Khel Mahakumbh with dedicated training sessions, aiming to compete internationally.
The District Khel Mahakumbh was inaugurated in Rajkot on Monday, featuring a special training program for local judo athletes. The event, organized by the district sports authority, brings together coaches, officials and promising judokas to prepare for upcoming national and international tournaments.
Participants are focusing on improving technique, strength and competitive experience under the guidance of certified trainers. The organizers highlighted that the Mahakumbh aims to provide a structured platform for athletes from Gujarat to gain exposure and meet selection criteria for higher-level events.
The judo contingent expressed confidence that the intensive sessions will enhance their prospects of representing India at Asian and world championships. Officials reiterated their commitment to supporting talent development through regular camps and access to better facilities.
The launch marks a significant step in the district’s broader effort to promote lesser‑followed sports and nurture athletes capable of achieving global recognition.
