The Rajkot municipal authority used drone‑based surveys to locate 10,333 potential mosquito‑breeding sites across the city, aiming to strengthen vector‑control measures.
Rajkot's civic body carried out a systematic aerial survey using unmanned drones to pinpoint locations where mosquitoes could breed. The operation, conducted over several weeks, identified 10,333 potential breeding sites, including stagnant water in construction pits, clogged drains and other water‑logging areas. Municipal officials said the detailed mapping will enable targeted fogging, larvicidal treatment and clean‑up drives before the monsoon season, reducing the risk of dengue, malaria and other vector‑borne diseases. The deployment of drone technology reflects Gujarat's growing emphasis on data‑driven public‑health strategies, with plans to integrate the findings into the city's GIS database for continuous monitoring. NDTV reported the results, and the Rajkot corporation has committed to dispatching field teams to eliminate the identified hotspots promptly.
