The blockbuster starring Rajinikanth has crossed the ₹500 crore mark at the domestic box office, becoming only the second Tamil film after 2.0 to reach this milestone.
Jailer 2, the latest film featuring superstar Rajinikanth, has officially crossed the ₹500 crore threshold at the Indian box office, marking a historic achievement for Tamil cinema.
The film, released on 15 August 2023, has accumulated a domestic gross of ₹500.2 crore as of 30 September 2023, according to trade analysts. It is the second Tamil feature after the 2020 blockbuster 2.0 to reach the half‑billion mark.
Industry insiders note that the movie’s strong opening weekend, coupled with sustained performance in multiplexes and single‑screen theatres across the country, propelled it past the milestone. The success also places Jailer 2 on a trajectory toward becoming one of the highest‑grossing Indian films of all time.
Rajinikanth’s presence, combined with the film’s action‑drama narrative and high‑budget production values, has attracted audiences from diverse demographics, contributing to its commercial momentum.
The film’s box‑office run is expected to continue, with distributors projecting a total domestic gross that could exceed ₹600 crore by year‑end.
