Rajasthan urban local body elections see 70.01% turnout; Jodhpur leads, Kota trails

The second phase of Rajasthan’s urban local body polls concluded with a 70.01% voter turnout, as 61.35 million of the 87.64 million registered voters cast their ballots. Jodhpur recorded the highest participation while Kota lagged behind.
The Election Commission of India completed the second and final round of voting for Rajasthan’s 147 urban local bodies on Saturday. Out of the 87,635,950 registered electors across the state, 61,351,53 voters exercised their franchise, bringing the overall turnout to 70.01%.
The figures reflect a steady engagement compared with previous urban polls, indicating sustained public interest in municipal governance. Election officials reported that polling stations operated smoothly, with security and health protocols in place.
Among the districts, Jodhpur registered the highest voter participation, topping the state’s turnout chart, while Kota recorded the lowest percentage. The results will be tallied in the coming days, after which the elected representatives for municipal councils and corporations will assume office.
