The Rajasthan government will roll out self‑defence and legal‑awareness classes for girls from class 6 to 12 across 36,765 government schools.

The state government of Rajasthan has announced a comprehensive programme to teach self‑defence techniques to female students in all government schools, covering classes six through twelve. More than thirty‑six thousand schools will receive the curriculum, which combines basic martial‑arts training with classroom sessions on legal safeguards.

Under the scheme, trained instructors will introduce students to practical defence moves, while teachers will explain key provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act. The programme also outlines the steps for filing complaints and accessing support services.

Officials say the initiative aims to boost confidence and safety awareness among adolescent girls, helping them respond to potential threats and understand their legal rights. The rollout is scheduled to begin in the upcoming academic session, with monitoring mechanisms to assess its impact across the state.

The move aligns with Rajasthan's broader efforts to promote gender‑sensitive education and create a safer environment for young women in schools.
