The Rajasthan state government may implement a 3% increase in Dearness Allowance for its staff, raising the rate from 60% to 63% before the Diwali festival, following the centre's similar hike.
New Delhi announced a uniform 3% rise in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees, prompting several states to consider similar adjustments. In Rajasthan, officials have signalled that the state could mirror the central move, increasing the DA for its civil servants from the current 60% to 63% before the upcoming Diwali celebrations.
The proposed increment aims to offset the impact of rising consumer prices on government staff, many of whom rely on the allowance as a key component of their remuneration. If approved, the increase would be effective from the Diwali period, providing timely relief ahead of the festive spending season.
State authorities have not yet issued an official order, but senior officials indicated that the decision will be taken after a review of the central government's directive and the state's fiscal position. The move is expected to be welcomed by employee unions and could set a precedent for other states awaiting similar adjustments.
