A government school building in Rajasthan was demolished yesterday after a safety campaign led by the Chief Justice of India (CJP) brought the structure’s hazards to light.
The CJP’s office had flagged the building as structurally unsound, citing cracks in the walls and a failing roof that posed a risk to students and staff.
Following a site inspection by the state’s public works department, officials confirmed the building’s instability and ordered its demolition.
The demolition was carried out by a licensed contractor under the supervision of the district administration, and a temporary classroom has been set up for the affected students while a new facility is planned.
