Under ‘Operation Countdown’, Rajasthan DIG police arrested 17 alleged cyber fraudsters, rescued five minors and recovered mobiles, fake SIMs and vehicles.
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rajasthan police launched Operation Countdown to dismantle a network of online fraudsters. The coordinated raid resulted in the detention of 17 individuals suspected of running cyber‑scams across the state.
During the same operation, five minors who were allegedly being used by the gang were placed under protective custody by the authorities. Investigators also recovered 18 mobile phones, 27 counterfeit SIM cards, a Mahindra Thar SUV, a tractor and a motorcycle that were linked to the fraudulent activities.
Police officials said the seized devices will be examined for digital footprints to identify additional victims and trace the broader crime ring. The crackdown reflects the state’s heightened focus on curbing cybercrime, especially schemes targeting vulnerable users.
Authorities have urged citizens to report suspicious online transactions and assured that similar operations will continue until the menace is fully eradicated.
