The Rajasthan Police and the Ministry of Home Affairs' Bureau of Police Research and Development signed an MoU in Jaipur to roll out technology‑enabled, accountable beat policing across nine districts.

Jaipur – Senior officials of the Rajasthan Police and the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), an arm of the Ministry of Home Affairs, formalised a partnership on Thursday by signing a memorandum of understanding at the state police headquarters. The agreement marks the first coordinated effort to introduce high‑technology tools into routine beat policing.

The MoU aims to transform traditional beat policing into a system that leverages digital platforms, real‑time data and citizen feedback, thereby enhancing accountability and making police presence more responsive to local needs. Both agencies highlighted the goal of creating a citizen‑centric model that can be monitored and evaluated through technology.

Under the agreement, the first phase will be implemented in nine districts of Rajasthan. These districts will receive upgraded equipment such as GPS‑enabled devices, mobile reporting apps and integrated dashboards that allow supervisors to track patrol activities and response times. Training for police personnel on the new tools will commence alongside the rollout.

Officials said the initiative is expected to improve law‑and‑order management, reduce response gaps and build public trust by making police actions more transparent. The partnership will be reviewed periodically to expand the model to other regions based on performance data.
