Within six hours, Rajasthan police retrieved a trailer loaded with 33 tonnes of stolen rice from Kotputli‑Bahadurgarh district and detained the driver near Viratnagar, who is suspected of selling the grain in Kotputli.
The Kotputli‑Bahadurgarh district police announced that a trailer carrying 33 tonnes of rice, reported missing earlier this week, was recovered within six hours of the theft. The vehicle was located on a highway near Viratnagar, where officers intercepted it during a routine patrol.
Investigators say the driver, who was operating the trailer, attempted to transport the stolen grain to Kotputli for sale. He was taken into custody at the scene and is being questioned about the chain of theft and any accomplices involved.
Senior police officials confirmed that the recovered rice will be returned to its rightful owners and that a formal case under the Indian Penal Code has been filed. The department has also launched a broader probe to determine whether similar thefts have occurred in the region's agricultural supply chain.
