After a 2.5‑hour, 200‑km pursuit, Rajasthan police detained four narcotics smugglers and recovered poppy husk valued at about Rs 88 lakh.
Rajasthan police launched a high‑speed chase that covered roughly 200 kilometres over two and a half hours, culminating in the arrest of four individuals suspected of smuggling narcotics. The operation, coordinated by the state’s anti‑narcotics unit, ended with the seizure of poppy husk estimated to be worth Rs 88 lakh.
According to officials, the suspects were intercepted after intelligence inputs indicated a large consignment moving through the desert belt of the state. The chase involved multiple police vehicles and aerial support to maintain contact over the long distance.
The seized poppy husk, a raw material for illicit opium production, will be handed over to the forensic laboratory for further analysis. Police spokesperson said the successful operation underscores the department’s commitment to curbing drug trafficking in the region.
The four arrested persons are currently in police custody and will face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigations are underway to trace the source and any broader network involved.
