The Rajasthan police headquarters has ordered a ban on creating accounts on major e‑commerce and food‑delivery platforms using official government email IDs, citing AI‑driven cyber threats.
Jaipur, Oct 21 — In a move aimed at curbing cyber‑security risks, the Rajasthan police headquarters issued a directive prohibiting the use of official government email addresses to register on Amazon, Flipkart and Zomato. The order cites the growing threat of artificial‑intelligence‑powered attacks, unauthorized system access and password theft targeting public‑sector accounts.
The police department warned that such platforms can be exploited to harvest credentials, leading to potential data breaches across government networks. Officials have instructed all state departments to enforce the ban immediately and to shift any existing commercial accounts to personal or non‑government email IDs.
The directive also calls for heightened awareness among staff about phishing attempts and the importance of using secure, institution‑approved channels for online transactions. Non‑compliance may attract disciplinary action under existing cyber‑security regulations.
Rajasthan's cyber‑crime cell will monitor adherence to the order and conduct periodic audits to ensure that government personnel do not expose official email IDs to external commercial services.
