Polling stations will open on Thursday at 7 am for the first phase of Rajasthan’s panchayat elections, covering 2,392 wards across 16 district councils and 10 panchayat samitis.
The election machinery for Rajasthan’s rural local bodies resumed activity on Wednesday as polling teams set out for the first phase of the panchayat elections. Campaigning that had been halted on Tuesday will give way to a full‑day voting exercise starting at 7 am on Thursday.
Voting will be conducted from 7 am to 6 pm across 2,392 wards that fall under 16 district councils and 10 panchayat samitis. Each polling station will follow the standard security and procedural guidelines laid out by the State Election Commission.
This first phase marks the launch of a statewide exercise to elect representatives at the village and block levels. Observers note that the turnout and conduct of this round could influence political dynamics in rural Rajasthan ahead of the upcoming state assembly polls.
