Opposition leader, several MPs and environmentalists have called for an expanded public consultation before any major projects are approved in the Aravalli range, citing ecological concerns.

Rajasthan's main opposition figure, together with a group of Members of Parliament and a coalition of ecologists, has formally requested that any future development initiatives affecting the Aravalli hills undergo a wider public consultation process. The call was made after recent proposals for infrastructure and mining activities raised concerns about potential damage to the fragile ecosystem.

The leaders said that local communities, scientific experts and civil‑society groups must be included in the decision‑making chain to ensure that environmental safeguards are not compromised. They urged the state government and the central ministries responsible for forest and mining clearances to postpone approvals until a comprehensive stakeholder dialogue is completed.

While no specific project was named, the demand reflects growing apprehension among opposition politicians and environmental advocates that rapid economic pushes could undermine the Aravalli's role as a vital green belt for Rajasthan. The appeal is expected to be forwarded to the state cabinet and relevant regulatory bodies for consideration.
