The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) released an updated outlook for Rajasthan, indicating that the monsoon will remain weak across the state until the end of August. The forecast suggests only scattered, light showers during this period, insufficient to meet the usual monsoon expectations.
Meteorologists attribute the subdued activity to prevailing atmospheric conditions that are limiting moisture inflow from the Arabian Sea. Consequently, agricultural regions may continue to rely on irrigation and groundwater to sustain crops through the remaining weeks of August.
From September 1 onward, the IMD expects a noticeable increase in rainfall probability as the monsoon trough shifts northward. The department advises farmers and residents to prepare for more consistent showers, which could provide much‑needed relief to water‑stressed areas.
