The state government has added ten mobile blood banks across Rajasthan to address rising maternal deaths linked to severe anaemia.

The Rajasthan government has announced the deployment of ten mobile blood vans in an effort to curb maternal deaths linked to severe anaemia. The vans will be stationed in key districts across the state to provide immediate blood transfusion services to pregnant women in rural and underserved areas.

Health officials say that anaemia remains a leading cause of maternal mortality in Rajasthan, with many women lacking timely access to blood supplies during childbirth complications. By bringing mobile units closer to communities, the state aims to reduce delays in treatment and improve survival rates.

The vans are equipped with refrigeration units, basic medical supplies, and a small team of trained staff. They will operate on a scheduled rota, ensuring coverage during peak hours and in emergencies. The initiative follows a recent spike in anaemia-related maternal deaths reported by district health authorities.

Rajasthan’s health commissioner noted that the move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen maternal health services and meet national targets for reducing maternal mortality. The vans will also support blood donation drives and awareness campaigns on anaemia prevention.
