In Itawa, the Naurera Dam opened five gates to release 50,000 cubic meters of water after the water level rose to 217 meters, with plans to increase discharge to 75,000 cubic meters soon.

The Naurera Dam, situated near Itawa in Rajasthan, has been experiencing a steady rise in water levels due to persistent rainfall in the region. In response to the increasing inflow, dam authorities opened five of the gates to manage the excess water.

A total of 50,000 cubic meters of water was released through the gates, a move aimed at preventing the water level from surpassing critical safety limits. The dam’s reservoir level has now reached 217 meters, which is close to the threshold that could trigger emergency measures.

Officials have announced that they are preparing to further increase the discharge to 75,000 cubic meters in the coming days. This step is intended to ensure the structural integrity of the dam and safeguard downstream communities from potential flooding.

The decision to open the gates and release water comes as part of a broader strategy to manage water resources during the monsoon season, balancing the needs of irrigation, power generation, and flood control.
