The Rajasthan government has asserted legal rights over properties that once belonged to the erstwhile Jaipur state, located in four cities of Uttar Pradesh.

Rajasthan officials announced that the state is laying claim to several parcels of land and buildings that were historically part of the former Jaipur princely state, but are now situated in four different cities of Uttar Pradesh. The claim is based on archival documents that trace the ownership of these assets back to the pre‑independence era when the Jaipur state held properties beyond present‑day Rajasthan.

The Rajasthan government says the properties were transferred to the central government after independence, and later allotted to Uttar Pradesh without a formal handover. It has approached the Uttar Pradesh administration with a detailed dossier, seeking either the return of the assets or compensation in line with inter‑state settlement norms.

State officials indicated that the matter will be discussed through the inter‑state council, and that a legal review is underway. While the Uttar Pradesh side has not yet issued an official response, the claim could set a precedent for other historical property disputes across Indian states.
